Rules for ElliNet

THESE RULES ARE BASED ON THE FOLLOWING PRINCIPLES:

1. everyone has a right to a decent access to the internet
2. others may not be disturbed
3. personal privacy must be respected

USER MUST

1. equip her computer with a suitable adapter
2. always use the personal IP-address that has been given to her
3. take other internet users into consideration
4. take care of the information privacy protection

USER MAY

1. use the internet within the framework of Ellinet rules and Finnish law
2. make a written complaint to Student Housing Company Joensuun Elli Ltd. if she is not satisfied with the Ellinet connection
3. cancel the contract without one calendar month notice time

JOENSUUN ELLI IS BOUND TO

1. open an internet connection within a reasonable time from the beginning date of the lease
2. secrecy on personal matters

JOENSUUN ELLI MAY

1. monitor and restrict internet usage
2. cut down the connection if an emergency occurs or a doubt about misuse arises

JOENSUUN ELLI IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE THAT INTERNET CONNECTION MAY CAUSE TO USER’S PERSONAL COMPUTER.

RESTRICTIONS; THE USER IS NOT ALLOWED TO

1. distribute illegal or morally doubtful material
2. disturb other internet users
3. connect a server on the Ellinet
4. connect other devices than personal computer on the Ellinet
5. monitor any kind of network traffic
6. search known and unknown defects or loopholes in safety systems

A SERIOUS MISUSE OF THE ELLINET IS ALWAYS A POLICE MATTER.
The original rules and regulations are made in Finnish and will be applied in a case of disagreement.
